Parents Win $1M for Teacher’s Abuse of Special Needs Son

Parents of a boy who was physically abused by his special education teacher won a $1 million jury award against the school district. Terrence Rideau was a severely disabled special education student in Texas public school. In April 2010, his parents suspected abuse and formally filed a complaint for the school district and child protective services to investigate. A driver won a $6.5 million jury award against Toyota for her injuries in an accident when the side air bag failed to deploy. Katherine M. Fired Police Chief Wins $3.7M for Blowing Whistle on Mayor

The former police chief of Atlantic City, N.J., has won a $3.7 million jury verdict in his lawsuit against the city for firing him because he blew the whistle on mayoral corruption. Woman Wins $10M for Roll-over Crash Due to Defective Tire

A woman whose car tire came off its rim while she was driving won a $10 million jury award against the world’s fourth largest tire maker, German-based Continental Tire. Owner Wins $3.75M for Land Seized to Expand Highway

A Pennsylvania man has won a $3.75 million jury award for the value of land taken by the government to expand a highway. Andrew Lang, 67, owned property that bordered Route 28 when the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in 2009 took the property by eminent domain, which allows the government to take property for public use.
