On Sunday afternoon, two riders from Central Jersey were fatally injured in a double motorcycle collision. The collision occurred in the intersection of Route 524 and Sharon Station Road in Upper Freehold, New Jersey, around 1:49 pm. A 46-year-old man from Jamesburg, New Jersey was making a left turn on his motorcycle onto Sharon Station Road when a 58-year-old man from Sayreville, New Jersey collided into him with his motorcycle. Both riders were ejected from their motorcycles, and suffered fatalities at the scene of the accident.

Although motorcycle riders must obey the same laws as drivers of other vehicles, some drivers may be unaware of this and disregard motorcyclists on the road. Motorcyclists are afforded less protection than drivers in enclosed vehicles, so even if they follow the rules of the road, they are more at-risk for personal injuries or even fatalities in a motor vehicle collision.
