Topic: Traffic Violations
As reported in Newsday this morning, a statewide enforcement effort called Operation Hang Up is beginning today and running through Monday, April 10th focusing on drivers using electronic devices while driving. This crackdown will involve police checkpoints that will look for drivers who are talking on their cell phones without a hands-free device, texting or using an electronic device while driving. Suffolk County police will participate in the campaign. A driver who receives a traffic ticket related to distracted driving faces the imposition of 5 points on her or his driving record in addition to a fine and surcharge. It is hoped that this increased enforcement will encourage drivers in New York to act more responsibly and improve the safety of our roadways.
We represent drivers who receive speeding tickets and other traffic tickets while traveling in Southampton and other areas of eastern Long Island and Suffolk County. Drivers with traffic tickets may contact our office for a free consultation on the best way to respond to the ticket.
