Lance Cooper represented Mark Williamson and Renee Williamson the parents of a Zachary Williamson a 15-year-old boy who was killed in a motor vehicle accident. Zachary was in the back seat of a Jeep Wrangler driven by Tanner Field. Zachary’s girlfriend was riding in the front seat of the Wrangler as they were driving down Old Cartersville Road. The defendant, Dylan Turner, was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon and crossed the center line and struck the Jeep head on. The impact caused the Jeep to roll and Zachary suffered injuries to his chest and died minutes later. Dylan Turner tested positive for marijuana, Oxycodone, and Xanax. Ultimately, the jury returned verdicts in favor of the Williamsons and against Mr. Turner.

In arriving in this decision, the jury recognized the value of Zachary Williamson’s life and the devastating impact that his death had on Mark and Renee. Mark and Renee are hopeful that the jury’s decision will deter other young men and women from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
