Group Says Penn. Sunday Hunting Ban Violates Constitution

A hunting organization is mounting a constitutional challenge to a Pennsylvania law which bans hunting of most animals on Sundays. Hunters United for Sunday Hunting has filed a lawsuit in federal court, claiming that the ban is both a violation of religious freedom and equal protection clauses. The complaint, naming the Pennsylvania Game Commission as defendant, argues that the ban is an outdated “blue law” that is arbitrary and without secular purpose.
