Prison Inmate ‘Forgotten’ for 2 Years Wins $15.5M

An inmate in a New Mexico county jail who was put in solitary confinement for nearly two years without being charged has won a $15.5 million settlement. A jury awarded Stephen Slevin $22 million in his suit against Doña Ana County in January of 2012. Nursing Home to Pay $28M for Poor Care and False Billing

A jury ordered a nursing home to pay over $28 million for fraudulent billing, providing worthless services and for retaliating against two employees who complained about the shoddy care at the facility. A worker who was fired for her panic attacks won a $21.7 million jury verdict against her employer, including $16.5 million in punitive damages for the employer’s malice. Jury Awards $3M to Workers Injured in Boiler Explosion

Five workers injured by a factory blast won $3 million against their employer for intentionally sending them into danger.
