The Obama administration announced Thursday it will not seek to strike down state marijuana laws that conflict with federal law, including last year’s voter-driven legalization of recreational marijuana in Colorado and Washington. DOJ Scraps Mandatory Minimums for Nonviolent Drug Offenders

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced today that the Department of Justice will stop charging certain nonviolent drug offenders with charges that carry mandatory minimum sentences.
