Parents Win $1M for Teacher’s Abuse of Special Needs Son

Parents of a boy who was physically abused by his special education teacher won a $1 million jury award against the school district. Terrence Rideau was a severely disabled special education student in Texas public school. In April 2010, his parents suspected abuse and formally filed a complaint for the school district and child protective services to investigate. Penn State Settles First Sandusky Molestation Suits

Eight molestation victims of former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky have reached settlements with the university, including Sandusky’s own adopted son. More agreements are expected to be announced soon.  The first plaintiff to agree to a settlement, called Victim 5 during Sandusky’s criminal trial, was assaulted by the disgraced coach in 2001 and announced a settlement early last week. Ex-Boy Scouts File Suit After Abuse by Prolific Molester

Fifteen former Boy Scouts filed a lawsuit today claiming that the local and national Scouting organizations didn’t do enough to protect them from being molested by their scoutmaster. The plaintiffs, all named as John Doe, were in a troop in suburban Chicago and allege that they were assaulted by notorious pedophile Thomas Hacker between 1980 and 1987.
