State Dept. Orders 3D-Printed Gun Plans Taken Offline

Shortly after an anarchy advocate successfully tested a plastic gun fabricated using 3D printing technology, and then distributed the plans on the internet, the U.S. State Department had the plans pulled due a possible violation of an international arms treaty. Senate Rejects Bill To Close Gun Background Check Loophole

The U.S. Senate today rejected a bill that would have closed a major loophole in federal gun laws by subjecting firearm purchases made at gun shows and online to background checks. Currently, only purchases made from federally licensed  gun dealers require that buyers be cleared through the  FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Straw-Purchaser of Gun Charged in Death of Colo. Prison Chief

A Colorado woman is facing straw-purchasing charges for supplying a gun to the man suspected of murdering the head of the state corrections department. Stevie Marie Vigil was arrested for buying a handgun and then allegedly transferring it to Evan Ebel, who police believe used it to shoot and kill Tom Clements, executive director of the Colorado Department of Corrections. 6 Good Reasons to Limit Loaded Guns in Public [Infographic]

In Woollard v. Gallagher, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit ruled that the Second Amendment does not provide an unbridled right to bear arms beyond a person’s home. Furthermore, states can enact laws that require gun permit holders to have good and substantial reasons to wear, carry or transport firearms. The Court pointed out that limiting the carrying of guns in public protects people and reduces crime for the reasons shown in the Lawyers.com infographic below:
