Calif. Supreme Court Upholds Medical Marijuana Dispensary Bans

In a unanimous decision, the California Supreme Court upheld a lower court ruling allowing cities and counties in the state to pass blanket bans prohibiting medical marijuana dispensaries. The decision settles an issue that has spawned numerous lawsuits and several conflicting lower court decisions. Maryland Medical Marijuana Law Signed by Governor

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley signed a bill into law today partially legalizing medical use of marijuana. The bill was previously approved by the state Senate in a 42-4 vote. The law comes riding a wave of popularity for liberalization of marijuana laws. You Can Still Get Fired for Smoking Pot in Colorado

Employees in Colorado can still be fired for testing positive for marijuana, an appeals court ruled last week. Medical use of marijuana has been legal in Colorado since 2000, and the state legalized the drug outright last year when the electorate voted “yes” on Amendment 64.
