Pa. County Clerk’s Stand Sparks Marriage Equality Showdown

A Pennsylvania judge ordered a county clerk to stop issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, which he’s done since shortly after the United States Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in June. Lesbian Widow Can Recieve Survivor Benefits, Judge Rules

The fallout from the Supreme Court’s June decision striking down the Defense of Marriage Act is still ongoing, and this week saw more good news for same-sex couples. The wife of a female lawyer who passed away in 2010 should get her survivor benefits, not her parents, a federal judge ruled Monday in Philadelphia.
