Parents Win $2 Million for Son’s Highway Death

The parents of a 22-year-old won a $2 million verdict for his death on a Michigan highway when his car hit a John Deere logging vehicle from behind. Christopher J. Drunk Driver Who Killed Two Must Pay $35 Million

A driver with three previous DUI charges who crashed his truck into a car, killing a couple on vacation, was ordered by a jury to pay $35 million. Thomas Cypress’ blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit when he crossed the median on the Tamiami Trail in West Miami-Dade and slammed head-on into a sedan, killing Robert and Paulette Kirkpatrick. L.A. Sheriff’s Dept. Pays $2M for Shooting Man in the Back

Parents of a man whom a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy shot dead as he ran away won a $2 million jury award. Efrain Lara Gutierrez encountered the deputies around 1 a.m. on Oct. 2, 2009 when they saw Gutierrez and another man near cars. AEG Not Liable in Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Trial

Concert promotion company AEG Live is not liable for Michael Jackson‘s death, a jury ruled Wednesday after three days of deliberation. Jackson’s family had sued AEG seeking compensation for billions in lost earnings after the pop star died of a propofol anesthetic overdose administered by Dr. Conrad Murray in 2009. $5.5M for Torn Vein Grafts Causing Heart Patient’s Death

A Maryland jury awarded $5.5 million to the family of a woman who died after open heart surgery when wires were removed from her chest. Velda Faye Richardson underwent cardiac bypass surgery on Feb. 1, 2011. Pacing wires were put on her chest just before surgery.
