Tour bus operator, Jinli Zhao, has been criminally charged for his role in the September 21st Delaware bus crash.
Delaware police charged Zhao with two counts of the operation of a vehicle causing death of another person, according to ABC News.
One victim died at the scene after being pinned under the overturned bus. Another passenger died at Christiana hospital as a result of traumatic injuries suffered during the accident.
The remaining 47 passengers were treated for various injuries.
The NYC tour bus overturned as Zhao attempted to round a curve on an exit ramp at an unsafe speed, said St. Police Spokesman St. Paul Shavack in a news release.
Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol was a contributing factor, but police believe additional charges are likely to be filed against Zhao.
Two innocent tourists lost their lives as a result of Zhao’s negligence. Both Zhao and the bus company should be held accountable for their involvement in the Delaware bus crash.
“Bus companies must take the utmost care to ensure the safety of their passengers,” said bus accident attorney Jim Ronca. “It’s tragic when a bus accident causes the loss of life and catastrophic injuries.”
