Reckless Driver Crashes into Dining Restaurant Patrons

For diners at a mid-Wilshire Los Angeles restaurant, an enjoyable Sunday afternoon meal quickly turned to tragedy as a van hurled through a white picket fence and into their tables. At least eight people experienced serious harms, including broken bones, severe bleeding, and head injuries.

As reported by the LA Times, the incident occurred at The Fish Spot on Pico and Redondo Boulevards. The van driver reportedly caused a collision after running through an intersection red light. The impact of the crash caused his vehicle to hurl into the restaurant patrons. The driver was later arrested when trying to flee on foot.

The victims reportedly ranged in age from 18 to 51 years old. One man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, while another male and two female victims were listed in serious condition. Four other hospitalized victims are reportedly in fair condition. Witnesses described a disturbing scene, with people screaming and crying as they attempted to flee.

Determining liability for serious vehicle accidents

Pedestrian accidents can cause significant injury to innocent victims. The extensive impact of these incidents commonly leads to such injuries as broken bones to the upper and lower extremities, as well as traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord trauma. These serious injuries often require extensive medical care and long-term rehabilitation. Victims may need medical treatments, physical therapy, and vocational rehabilitation in order to obtain their best quality of life. In the most severe cases, pedestrian accident victims may need alterations to their homes to better accommodate persistent physical challenges.
