It is hard to deny that the interaction between China and Latin America has strengthened significantly in the last five years. Indeed, since 2005, China has provided loan commitments of about US$75 billion to Latin American countries. In 2010 alone, China’s loan commitments of US$37 billion to the region were more than those of the World Bank (US$14 billion) and the Inter- American Development Bank (US$12 billion) combined. [i]
