In criminal cases in the Tennessee, there are basically three categories. First, there are infractions, which are punished by a fine with no jail time. There is no right to a jury with respect to infractions, because there is no jail time. Misdemeanors are more serious, because there can be jail time; however, they are far less serious than felonies. An example of a misdemeanor is first time DUI. Felonies are the most serious crimes. Murder is an example of a felony. If you have questions about criminal law in the State of Tennessee, then feel free to call us at (423) 424-6208 or by email at Joneslaw08@gmail.com.
