Survey Reveals that Couples of Different Faiths More Likely to Divorce

Religious faith is a very
personal and for many a very important issue in life.  However, the
United States is a society that values religious freedom, and that
includes the right for people of different faiths to marry each other.
However, even though these marriages are legal, recent statistics that
have been released suggest that married people who do not share the same
faith are more likely to divorce in the future than those who share the
same faith.

These
statistics revealed that presently, nearly 30 percent of all married
couples in the United States involve spouses who had different religious
affiliations when they got married.  While some spouses convert to the
other spouse’s form of faith, the statistics revealed that married
couples who do not share the same religion are nearly three times as
likely to divorce as those who are involved in the same religious
entities.

While
this study should has not come as a surprise to many people who follow
these trends, the point that has been made with regards to this issue is
that for many people, religious differences can eventually become as
divisive in a marriage as a general lack of communication or a failure
to agree on how to manage money.  Therefore, a larger number of these
marriages are ending than others where the spouses share the same faith.
