Survey Shows Los Angeles the City Where Divorce is Costliest

When
people encounter the end of their marriage and they are ready to move
on with their lives, the obvious next step is to pursue a divorce.
However, most people have heard the horror stories regarding how a
litigated divorce
can all but exhaust the assets that a married couple has spent years
working for and accumulating.  As such, many people hesitate to take
this difficult step for fear of watching their work disappear.

In
furtherance of this generalized notion, a recent survey has been
released that details the most expensive cities in the United States
when it comes to litigated divorces.  The survey took many things into
account that included attorney costs, costs of assets divided and the
cost of living both before and after a divorce was completed and support
orders were issued.  It should come as no surprise that Los Angeles is
the most expensive city in the United States to litigate a divorce.  New
York was second, followed by San Francisco and then Miami.

Clearly,
litigated divorce can become extremely expensive, particularly if the
process involves a large number of assets that have a high value.
People who face this situation often wind up looking for alternatives so
that they do not have to lose all that they have worked for and so that
they can begin anew with somewhat of a safety net in place.
