Lawn Toy Causes Burns to 2-Year-Old Boy

Children are supposed to have fun with toys, not get hurt by
them. So when a child is injured because of a defective or dangerous toy, it’s
an unexpected and unfortunate tragedy. This is especially true when the toy
accident causes permanent or life threatening injuries to the young individual.
In some cases, fatalities can even be the result of a toy accident. If your
child has been injured by a defective product then contact a California product
liability lawyer today to have your case reviewed. We may be able to help you
get a settlement for your damages.

Why Children Get Hurt

Very young children are the most vulnerable since they do
not know how to take proper precautions yet. Manufacturers of toys may use
shoddy workmanship or lower quality materials to cut costs, which increases the
chances of something going wrong.

In a recent story, a two year old boy was injured while
riding an electric-powered lawn toy in the back yard of his home near Albany. The child was
transported by helicopter to a Columbus
hospital after being burned while playing at his home on Setty Road. Emergency medical personnel
reported that the child was burned on 50 to 75 percent of his body according to
statements made by Albany Fire Chief Roger Deardorff. A California product liability lawyers legal firm can assist.

The fire department released a news statement indicating
that the young child was riding an electric-powered lawn toy when the toy
caught fire. When the father saw that his son’s clothes were on fire, he
immediately used a rug to cover him in an attempt to put out the flames. Athens
County Emergency Medical Service responded to the call and treated the boy at
the scene of the accident. He was then flown by MedFlight to Nationwide
Children’s Hospital. The father sustained burns to his hands and later met his
son at the hospital. The toy was destroyed in the fire and there were no
indications as to what caused the accident to occur.

Unfortunately reports such as this one are all too common.
If you or your child has suffered an injury as a result of a toy or game
malfunctioning, contact California product liability lawyers to help protect your rights and fight for compensation for your
medical expenses and losses.
