PEDESTRIAN DEATHS SPIKE IN 2016
Pedestrian deaths are climbing much faster than motorist fatalities, per an analysis from the Governors Highway Safety Association. Nearly 6,000 were killed in 2016, the highest number in two decades. Researchers think the biggest factor may be that more drivers and walkers are distracted by cell phones and other electronic devices. Florida has one of the highest rates of pedestrian deaths relative to population. Please avoid distracted driving, and distracted walking, on and near roadways.
