Cherry Hill Car Accident Lawyers: Consumer Reports Highlights Cars to Avoid

Sorting through list after list of best-buys can be a daunting prospect when purchasing a car. Fortunately, Consumer Reports has tackled the problem from the opposite perspective. The “10 Bottom Picks for 2016” singles out cars which rank lowest in their class, making it easier than ever to avoid a dangerous vehicle.

With a score of 31, the Fiat 500L is not only the lowest-rated compact car – it is the lowest rated car overall. A survey of 740,000 automobile owners reveals that the 500L is plagued by reliability issues, leading to many unsatisfied owners. Additionally, the 500L performed poorly in a small-overlap frontal test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). In second place among the worst-of-the-worst, the Mitsubishi Mirage is the lowest-rated subcompact car. According to Consumer Reports, the Mirage receives low marks for drivability as well as for lackluster results in similar crash tests by the IIHS.

Other automobiles rounding out the list include the Mercedes-Benz CLA250, the Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Lincoln MKS. According to Consumer Reports, many of its Bottom Picks for 2016 may appeal to bargain hunters this year. Some models – like the Dodge Journey SUV and the Chrysler Town & Country minivan – will soon be discontinued, and are likely to be offered at a deep discount. Cherry Hill car accident lawyers say consumers should resist the temptation, no matter how many incentives a car dealer may offer.

Instead, Consumer Reports has identified several models that outperform others in their class for 2016 based on factors such as reliability, owner satisfaction, safety and performance. According to that list, the Subaru Impreza, Toyota Camry, Lexus RX and Kia Sorento all receive high marks. For those in the market for a truck, the Ford F-150 is in a class all its own. Consumer Reports says that the F-150 is the most reliable domestic truck, while also scoring well in crash tests.
