Darby Township Teacher Charged With Child Sex Assault

A teacher from the Darby Township School in Glenolden, Pennsylvania has been arrested for sex-related charges. The Pennsylvania elementary school teacher was formally charged with sexual abuse including indecent assault and corruption of minors. He was arraigned and is currently free on bail.

Eight students allege that the Darby Township teacher acted inappropriately toward them when he was their second grade teacher. The child sex assault charges include reports of inappropriate sexual touching with the teacher giving his young victims candy in return. Six of the victims are currently elementary age children whom have the alleged perpetrator as their current second grade teacher. Two other alleged victims experienced the sexual abuse in the past and are now teenagers.

Investigations reveal that the school received earlier complaints about this teacher prior to his arrest. Two years prior to the formal child sex assault charges in this case, another child and their parent wrote a complaint letter to the school about the educator’s inappropriate behavior. In light of the current criminal charges that have been filed against the Darby Township teacher, investigators are looking into how the school dealt with the earlier complaint of sexual misconduct and why the school district did not act and respond to the grievance.
