Galfand Berger has a long history of supporting local community organizations which are making a difference in the Philadelphia area. Our firm recently hosted an evening with Esperanza Immigration Legal Services, a local non-profit organization that provides community education, advocacy and direct legal services to immigrant families in the North Philadelphia area.
Michael Malvey, a Senior Partner at Galfand Berger, organized the event as an opportunity to invite the community to learn more about the important work of EILS. Mr. Malvey serves on EILS’s Board of Directors. To learn more about Mr. Malvey, read his bio here.
Among the evening speakers were Mary Clark, EILS’s Executive Director and the Reverend Luis Cort??s Jr., President and CEO of Esperanza (formerly Neuva Esperanza, Inc.), and a nationally recognized leader in community development.
Since its founding in 2009, EILS has served thousands of individuals through its community outreach programs. EILS provides a wide range of legal services for the Philadelphia immigrant community including assistance with citizenship issues, green card applications, domestic abuse cases and human trafficking violations. Although almost 87% of the individuals served by EILS are Hispanic, EILS provides services to a number of diverse immigrant communities. The organization’s main goal is to assist all immigrants in participating in and benefiting fully from American society. Galfand Berger is proud to support the work of this community organization.
